<br />
By Lucy Maud Montgomery<br />
<br />
<!-- Anne of Green Gables Novels #1: Anne of Green Gables 0553153277 153277 MONTGOMERY Lucy Maud Montgomery --> Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert have decided to adopt an orphan. They want a nice sturdy boy to help Matthew with the farm chores. The orphanage sends a girl instead - a mischievous, talkative redhead who the Cuthberts are sure will be no use at all. But as soon as Anne arrives at the snug white farmhouse called Green Gables, she knows she wants to stay forever. And the longer Anne stays, the harder it is for anyone to imagine Green Gables without her.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">That is what Anne of Green Gables is about. An adorable orphaned girl. Yes, we learn she has had a miserable childhood prior to coming to Green Gables, but we also learn that she has an indomitable, creative spirit. As a result, the difficulties in her past are barely blips in the scope of her future.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">This is not the Anne in the new <i>Anne with an E</i> series on Netflix. Here's a trailer for it if you haven't watched it yet. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/S5qJXYNNINo" width="560"></iframe></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">What we generally assume from the book as Anne's quirky, imaginative, lively characteristics are turned into post-traumatic, survival mechanisms.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">While entertaining, it is not the Anne of Lucy Maud Montgomery. It is a gritty, realistic view written by </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Moira Walley-Beckett, a writer known for her work on “Breaking Bad." The saying "consider the source" applies well in this situation. </span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">This Anne is more violent.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">She is more worldly (not by her own fault, but she still is.)</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Yes, there was feminism in the book but it was first wave feminism. Think suffragists. But <i>An</i><i>ne with an E </i>presents more of the third wave feminism we face today. </span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Attempts to flesh out other characters brings additional topics not mentioned in Montgomery's like attempted suicide and lesbianism. </span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">It shows victimization without victors.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #2a2a2a; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">As Annie Holmquist noted in her commentary, </span></span></div>
<h1 style="background-color: white; border-bottom: 0px !important; box-sizing: border-box; color: #151515; line-height: 1.2em; margin-bottom: 1px !important; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0.25em !important; padding-top: 0px;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large; font-weight: normal;"><i><a href="http://www.intellectualtakeout.org/blog/what-anne-shirley-teaches-about-dealing-victimhood" target="_blank">What Anne Shirley Teaches about Dealing with Victimhood</a>:</i></span></h1>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; font-family: "opens sans" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 18.071px;">The main, praiseworthy characters, such as Anne, Leslie, and others, were those who had endured genuine suffering – including sexual harassment, bullying, and poverty - but rose above those tragedies and determined not to fixate on them. They moved on with life and seemed happier and better adjusted than those who had minor problems, but chose to continually air them to everyone who would listen. In other words, Montgomery gives the subtle message that dwelling on one’s victimhood – no matter how big or small – only makes things worse.</span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #2a2a2a; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">So, while we have watched it, I don't fully recommend it. One benefit of watching, however, is that my daughter wants to read the book now to meet the "real" Anne!</span></span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Well, one of the project, of course, deals with Turkish Delight! We determined to find out what it is and possibly how to make it. We found found <a href="https://www.facebook.com/NerdyNummies/" target="_blank">Nerdy Nummies</a> really helped with this. Nerdy Nummies is hosted by Rosanna Pansino. She develops recipes based on books, movies, tv shows and more, so we were pleasantly surprised when we found the one for turkish delight! </span><br />

I just wanted to share a few things I did...including writing a song! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Everything is better with a song!</span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizjefCQfaT5p2NDLaxIR0qtSOA7q7GCHNuuto9tVPpKM4a0jbgxt61DGu1RjSFGgLnNHGreoqt_dSIIJv9nhZsvFRW6ycVyvKl5u6VGEcKHKtHhspaScoSAFY2Y7SmdxV5iQiaUXnacqw/s1600/20170503_182131.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizjefCQfaT5p2NDLaxIR0qtSOA7q7GCHNuuto9tVPpKM4a0jbgxt61DGu1RjSFGgLnNHGreoqt_dSIIJv9nhZsvFRW6ycVyvKl5u6VGEcKHKtHhspaScoSAFY2Y7SmdxV5iQiaUXnacqw/s320/20170503_182131.jpg" width="180" /></a><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">First, last week I put up a door display that we finished this week. I've seen similar, individual crafts like this but I applied it to the door. Last week, I put up brown paper in the center and curled blue paper along the sides for the parted sea. This week we colored the people that I found <a href="http://www.artistshelpingchildren.org/kidscraftsactivitiesblog/2013/03/moses-parting-the-sea-old-testament-bible-exodus-printable-paper-craft-for-passover/" target="_blank">HERE</a> and added them to cross the Red Sea. I liked them for the ease of cutting out.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Second, my song! I wrote a quick dittie to the tune of "Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho." Here's my lyrics..</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">The Hebrews crossed the Red Sea</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">on dry land</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">on dry land</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">on dry land</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">The Hebrews crossed the Red Sea</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">on dry land</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">And the Egyptians said bye-bye.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Now, I did mention what actually happened to the Egyptians that followed the Hebrews into the Red Sea, but I just couldn't fit that in the song!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Third, I usually like to have a snack I can relate back to what we learned from the Bible. We made Red Sea graham crackers. Pillsbury Funfetti Aqua Blue Vanilla is perfect for this snack because of the color and the fact you get little fish as the Funfetti! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Here's what it looked like made:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQP-A6iKTfxZaNsV4zaSPaCMB2WbZvExc8iLTKHmQWoijAfnGZH_dFWF1pRzWirlCeCvugcaCSIu49SMQhHA__mrNXuPLWEck2-0BtQiG0dyZyZECTytTMEm2tN2vdGbK9FSOckQ9tGJ4/s1600/20170502_114825.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQP-A6iKTfxZaNsV4zaSPaCMB2WbZvExc8iLTKHmQWoijAfnGZH_dFWF1pRzWirlCeCvugcaCSIu49SMQhHA__mrNXuPLWEck2-0BtQiG0dyZyZECTytTMEm2tN2vdGbK9FSOckQ9tGJ4/s320/20170502_114825.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"> We left it "dry" in the middle, added the Red Sea on the sides and some little fish in the water. Before we ate our snack we finger-walked the Hebrew across the dry land a few times while singing our new song.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_SI76YJDpRocjhRJ5jDqGPbJutbSUI6lS-jZGzLaI_-lM2H40u2XJypKl7lF-uM1mXLhXwyPtE4oIqvga5nBibhppfoAn8OMu9N4mAXH-36juv3gvutrdBsaF_sWyCNicD-r1SK8KFSg/s1600/20170430_105102.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_SI76YJDpRocjhRJ5jDqGPbJutbSUI6lS-jZGzLaI_-lM2H40u2XJypKl7lF-uM1mXLhXwyPtE4oIqvga5nBibhppfoAn8OMu9N4mAXH-36juv3gvutrdBsaF_sWyCNicD-r1SK8KFSg/s320/20170430_105102.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">A good time was had by all and I heard a few little voices singing while leaving class!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>

Whenever a picture of one of the royal children comes out, it’s sure to be plastered over every magazine and newspaper for days to come. Such is the case with the latest birthday portrait of Princess Charlotte (shown above), which Kensington Palace posted on its <a href="https://www.instagram.com/kensingtonroyal/?hl=en">Instagram page</a>.</div>
<br />
<div class="rtejustify">
As <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/people/princess-charlotte-poses-second-birthday-portrait-john-lewis/">has been noted</a>, the portrait shows that Charlotte, dressed in a yellow sweater with lambs dancing across the yoke and a Peter Pan collar peering out from beneath, is quickly moving from babyhood to girlhood.</div>
<br />
<div class="rtejustify">
What’s fascinating, however, is that the latest photo of the little princess continues to show the Royals’ habit for dressing their children in <a href="http://www.intellectualtakeout.org/blog/why-will-and-kate-dress-their-kids-traditional-clothing">traditional clothing</a>. As <em>The Telegraph </em><a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/people/the-princess-charlotte-effect-inside-the-clothing-frenzy-caused/">explains</a>, the Royals are able to fulfill this penchant by turning to Spanish clothing designers:</div>
<br />
<blockquote>
<div class="rtejustify">
“‘Culturally the Spanish have always dressed children up at the weekends in a very classical fashion; traditional Sunday best styles and beautiful fabrics without a hint of fad or trend,’ editor-in-chief of <a href="http://www.smallishmagazine.com/">Smallish Magazine </a>Estelle Lee says of the newfound interest in Spanish childrenswear amongst the UK’s elite parents. ‘Here, there seems to be a backlash against the vulgarity of dressing children as mini-mes, in eye-watering designer wear that can only be dry cleaned. So recently there has been an influx of brands importing the Spanish aesthetic: tasteful, keeping childrenswear simple and age appropriate. Parents want to keep their children looking as though they've just tumbled out of Enid Blytons faraway tree. Which is exactly as it should be.’”</div>
</blockquote>
<br />
<br />
<div class="rtejustify">
Another Spanish clothing designer notes:</div>
<br />
<blockquote>
<div class="rtejustify">
“‘The style is much more classic for children with peter Pan collar shirts, soft colours, floral prints. We keep the essence of timeless clothing for children and enjoy seeing our children look like children.’”</div>
</blockquote>
<br />
<br />
<div class="rtejustify">
Pondering such comments, I can’t help but wonder if the Royals have caught onto an idea that’s been completely overlooked by all of us commoners across the pond.</div>
<br />
<div class="rtejustify">
In the U.S., we’ve completely latched on to the idea of “dressing children as mini-mes.” Such dressing – whether it be a little tot in a itsy bitsy yellow polka dot bikini, or another in black leather motorcycle gear, or still others with any number of questionable sayings emblazoned across the bottom of their pants – is often adored by adults because it’s both humorous and cute.</div>
<br />
<div class="rtejustify">
But after reading the ideas behind the Spanish approach to children’s dressing which the Royals follow, I had to ask myself if the American habit of dressing children as mini-mes has helped to fuel the rise of <a href="http://www.intellectualtakeout.org/blog/adulting-school-founded-teach-millennials-how-be-adults">immature and incapable adults</a>.</div>
<br />
<div class="rtejustify">
You see, by dressing children as adults, we treat them as such far before their time. We allow them to have the attitudes and privileges of an adult before they have learned the maturity and responsibility to effectively handle those same privileges, thus removing the incentives driving them towards maturity and responsibility.</div>
<br />
<div class="rtejustify">
Is it possible that in treating children like children – both in the way we dress them and the activities we allow them to pursue – we will better prepare them for a natural, responsible transition to adulthood some day in the future?</div>

</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6u_bTFl75ofF-W19K0mESJ0BAQn6cZL5ig_erFphY84SGKKg-fUPmzTUHWkxB_8OtEqmblfgK_1tnkPeCEcP0ZUdO38nD1D2zeSFbQpNJtrga59WkVQ2XoYZIfed2rS4wSEI_wiayKmE/s1600/correct+fb+cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6u_bTFl75ofF-W19K0mESJ0BAQn6cZL5ig_erFphY84SGKKg-fUPmzTUHWkxB_8OtEqmblfgK_1tnkPeCEcP0ZUdO38nD1D2zeSFbQpNJtrga59WkVQ2XoYZIfed2rS4wSEI_wiayKmE/s640/correct+fb+cover.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">This "recipe" is not original to me. In fact, you can find it all over the internet! I just wanted to share it with you in case you've been hiding under a rock. 😉</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I hate throwing away things that could possibly have some further use. I also hate using dryer sheets that have so many chemicals that attach to clothes and then soak into you body as you wear the clothes.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">So, I </span><img src="http://www.clker.com/cliparts/w/x/A/s/s/0/love-hi.png" height="133" width="200" /> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">making my own reusable dryer sheets!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">First,you need an old t-shirt or such. I use my old kitchen towels. Cut them into squares.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfJGSr7dp9Q3ZpEHbgXzfHl9VbHFz1m02GRn2UBwvP-QEtlLOBCBOZi-2wNFwCUonWfCkh5m-PTGTV4ZF93PDftRiVlpmPFQbWfsNzjJsqXrqCtIQ_z1SizEMg-C-Pk6fSURISFAEnYvc/s1600/20170418_143909.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="242" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfJGSr7dp9Q3ZpEHbgXzfHl9VbHFz1m02GRn2UBwvP-QEtlLOBCBOZi-2wNFwCUonWfCkh5m-PTGTV4ZF93PDftRiVlpmPFQbWfsNzjJsqXrqCtIQ_z1SizEMg-C-Pk6fSURISFAEnYvc/s400/20170418_143909.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Obviously these were my holey kitchen towels!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">You also need a mason jar or some other jar that closes to keep in the moisture.</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">To the jar, you add:</span></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">3/4 cup of white vinegar</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">1/4 cup of water</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">6-10 drops of essential oil</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">It is up to you which essential oil you would like to use. Many use <a href="https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/lemon-essential-oil" target="_blank">Lemon</a> or <a href="https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/lavender-essential-oil" target="_blank">Lavender</a>. I chose <a href="https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/purification-essential-oil" target="_blank">Purification</a> for two reasons. First, it smells heavenly. The blend includes </span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Citronella, Lavandin, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Myrtle, and Tea Tree which leads me to my second reason. This blend can also help you have an annoyance-free outdoor experience. Those pests just don't like the beautiful smell!</span></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Once you've added the three ingredients to the jar, just add the "rags" and you're done. The liquid ingredients wick up through all the "dyer sheets."</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">So when I am done, I have these two jars on my dryer: </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDcu__UTDo1BYL_ukA5GMWZxK2CHAGLYLvU6AM2wBm5OnlwoCbktj0MA_O20VwfLyA9EeW983Kikdif3oWWbsckTAJ5jbFxvQ-ojdcbaN8dpv4INdCjHOP0n64Rg7-lYxZ40b46LSALTs/s1600/20170418_143752.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="362" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDcu__UTDo1BYL_ukA5GMWZxK2CHAGLYLvU6AM2wBm5OnlwoCbktj0MA_O20VwfLyA9EeW983Kikdif3oWWbsckTAJ5jbFxvQ-ojdcbaN8dpv4INdCjHOP0n64Rg7-lYxZ40b46LSALTs/s400/20170418_143752.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">The jar on the right has my damp, ready-to-use dryer sheets. Personally, I keep the other jar on the left to put my dryer sheets in after they come out o the dryer. It keeps them all together. You could use a basket or whatever works for you.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">When the right one gets empty, I just start the process again! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Quick, easy, and they work!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">The last few weeks I've been dealing with severe sinus gunk which led to sore throats. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">One of my go-to's for any sinus/allergy/cold stuff is tea, raw honey, and essential oils.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkePs2Y5LtHJbn6jpzR5ts0A5-uNEpho7uzHNeoNqIEg9vGJ2vsqWAZxb6qn2Q9ljNLtV-tBBWsZrCu9Y5LX6vwZAjRPlCHllY8t7AkdhuZ1__ETOJl_1XJUgGTrpHCzJDYrHrF3SzULY/s1600/20170406_113452.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="278" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkePs2Y5LtHJbn6jpzR5ts0A5-uNEpho7uzHNeoNqIEg9vGJ2vsqWAZxb6qn2Q9ljNLtV-tBBWsZrCu9Y5LX6vwZAjRPlCHllY8t7AkdhuZ1__ETOJl_1XJUgGTrpHCzJDYrHrF3SzULY/s400/20170406_113452.jpg" width="400" /></a><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I used green tea, raw honey, about 3 drops of <a href="https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/thieves-vitality-5ml" target="_blank">Thieves Vitality</a> and 4 drops of <a href="https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/lemon-vitality-5ml" target="_blank">Lemon Vitality</a> both from Young Living. The Vitality essential oils are labeled specifically safe for ingestion.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I wouldn't put too much Thieves in your tea unless you want to tingle your lips off! Thieves is the famous blend of </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">Lemon, Clove, Eucalyptus Radiata, Cinnamon Bark, and Rosemary essential oils</span><span style="background-color: white;"> used for wellness and immunity.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">Lemon is a go to for almost anything! Did you know it takes 75 lemons to make one 15 ml bottle of Young Living Essential oils? The oil comes from the peel not from the pulp.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">I've also used the <a href="https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/thieves-fresh-essence-mouthwash" target="_blank">Thieves Mouthwash</a> to gargle with when I have a sore throat but this time I was out. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">How do you use Essential Oils to help with allergies and sinuses?</span></span>Betsy Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03425274490034775170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-494118661816136592.post-77258453240307229962017-04-11T07:19:00.000-05:002017-04-11T07:19:53.637-05:00He's just a created being. <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Went to blessed class last night where the enemy of our soul was discussed. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">We do have a real enemy. He really does work against us. He really does hate us. He goal is to discourage and demolish us not just because of his hate for us but especially for hate of our Master, Father, and Maker.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I was able to add one thought to the conversation and thought I'd share it with you today. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZX8obg60wdvFr2gRXZRQ2hVbqJVTiWVNCg_7hIwh1Hja9VzxfKG38ixhBQDiRa5nM7IWS875v_JigJAKU0zLIbwku3LVEInrSXQ-m1zXU9qny-wtcpwiLZhEBr570GSHrEXxtiV3uD2M/s1600/scale.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZX8obg60wdvFr2gRXZRQ2hVbqJVTiWVNCg_7hIwh1Hja9VzxfKG38ixhBQDiRa5nM7IWS875v_JigJAKU0zLIbwku3LVEInrSXQ-m1zXU9qny-wtcpwiLZhEBr570GSHrEXxtiV3uD2M/s200/scale.jpeg" width="200" /></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Sometimes we think that Satan is the equal opposite of God. For all the good and loving God is, the enemy is His exact opposite. Kind of like a balanced scale. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">UNTRUE!!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The enemy is a CREATED BEING just like all the other angels, the earth, humans, our pets, etc. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">There is nothing equal between the enemy and our God. It's not even an unbalanced scale...it's off the scale! It's comparing the the Creator of the scale to some item being measured on the scale...and being found wanting.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">So, keep in mind, Satan is powerful; all angels are. That's the way God created them. But there is nothing OMNI- about him.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">He's not omniscient like my Savior is. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="color: blue;">Baby boomers </span>were born from after WWII to about 1964...my husband is barely a baby boomer.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="color: purple;">Generation X</span> is from mid-1960s to early 1980s which is where I fall.</span><br />

They've also been called the "Peter Pan" generation due to them delaying a lot of adult-type behavior.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">That is what </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #2a2a2a;">Martin Cothran,the editor of </span><a href="https://www.memoriapress.com/classical-catalog/" style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #776d5a; transition: color 0.2s ease-in-out; word-break: break-word;" target="_blank"><em style="box-sizing: border-box;">Classical Teacher</em></a><span style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #2a2a2a;"> magazine, published by </span><a href="https://www.memoriapress.com/" style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #776d5a; transition: color 0.2s ease-in-out; word-break: break-word;" target="_blank">Memoria Press</a>, is addressing in his article, </span><br />

<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">He addresses three main facts to show this.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">1. Fewer Millennials are married.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">2. More are living at home or own their own home.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">3. Fewer are living with their own children.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This is compared to Baby Boomers in the </span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">1980 Census. </span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I don't disagree with Mr. Cothran's findings. I just wished he would have gone into reasons. I have a few reasons that do not necessarily mean immaturity.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">1. They are not married because they have been raised in a more liberal environment. Marriage is not necessary. If that is your belief system, it does not mean immaturity just philosophy.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">2. Besides immaturity, there's a big reason to live at home or not purchase a home. The economy is terrible. There are many of us who can no longer afford their own home. It is not because we are immature (stop snickering) it is because we do not have the funds make it happen.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">3. I find that more of them not living with their own children are a good thing. If fewer of them are married, well, there <i>should</i> be fewer children, right? Fewer single parents having a hard to make ends meet financially and emotionally is not immature but a good thing in my book.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Obviously, we should be concerned about Millennials. <a href="https://answersingenesis.org/blogs/ken-ham/2017/03/28/study-only-4-millennials-have-biblical-worldview/" target="_blank">Only 4% have a Biblical worldview</a>. That explains A LOT. I think we need to consider that when we consider their apparent immaturity. It is a major part of the cause. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">have a Generation Z, and I try not face her future with fear and I see what's going on with the generation before.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Give me so hope! </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">What do you think? How are your Millenial children d</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">oing?</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIYpLM7ME2j_wGEEd7zueuDIeWlWQuV38b2nEDD0JCoLix_p3O2C0auJO_I4MbACj71BWPR3cSfRGigPsmB7I2NOfWshw-dH2D0ci1diPOUWAmTtZ3QToNycTWiOfn2TZ7ZXexTD_y_Nw/s1600/cest-la-vie-2pq2aw.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIYpLM7ME2j_wGEEd7zueuDIeWlWQuV38b2nEDD0JCoLix_p3O2C0auJO_I4MbACj71BWPR3cSfRGigPsmB7I2NOfWshw-dH2D0ci1diPOUWAmTtZ3QToNycTWiOfn2TZ7ZXexTD_y_Nw/s320/cest-la-vie-2pq2aw.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">So, what is bringing me back?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">1. I need more practice writing. I am working on a book. Yup, a book. Thanks to the TTD conference and a class with <a href="http://www.triciagoyer.com/" target="_blank">Tricia Goyer</a>. In the class, I was convicted about honing my craft, blogging and hopefully more magazine articles here I come.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">B. Because I'm writing a book that maybe God will publish some day, I need to rebuild my audience...assuming I had any. According to Tricia, publishers look at author's reach in social media to help them determine if the person is worth publishing. As a result, you will be seeing more of me on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Mrs-Price-is-Right-147196942010247/" target="_blank">my Facebook Page</a> and here. Hopefully, you will like what you see and want to share!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">ChooChoo. Lastly, if I can help my family out making a little cash, it's an added benefit. Some of my links will contain affiliate links which give me a little cash for clicking or purchasing. It's not a new thing, but I wanted to make you aware.</span><br />
<a href="http://www.currclick.com/images/919/89879.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.currclick.com/images/919/89879.jpg" height="320" width="248" /></a><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Therefore, because the book I'm working on is about the Proverbs 31 Lady (intimidating I know), I thought I would point out these items I have for sale at <a href="http://www.currclick.com/browse.php?affiliate_id=19066" target="_blank">Currclick.com</a>.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I have it available in <a href="http://www.currclick.com/product/89879/I-Can-Illustrate-Proverbs-31ESV?manufacturers_id=919" target="_blank">ESV</a>, <a href="http://www.currclick.com/product/89876/I-Can-Illustrate-Proverbs-31KJV?manufacturers_id=919" target="_blank">KJV</a>, and <a href="http://www.currclick.com/product/89878/I-Can-Illustrate-Proverbs-31NIV?manufacturers_id=919" target="_blank">NIV</a>.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">It's regulary $3, but wait! Since you apparently have read this whole article, I will give you a copy of "I Can Illustrate Proverbs 31" for free if you leave you email address and Bible version as a blog comment before April 30, 2017. Comments on FB don't count. It's needs to be on the blog. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">BTW, my numbering system on this article came from The Skit Guys' "Adam and Eve" skit. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TPhxByH_xtw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Photo from New York Post</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">First of all, I know that the whole "the Pences have boundaries in their marriage" episode is so last week...literally, but my family and I have been pondering it all weekend, so it's time for me to say just a few things.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">If you happen to be out of the loop because you were vacationing in the Australian Outback or lost in the Bermuda Triangle, Karen Pence shared that VP doesn't dine alone with women other than his wife.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Shock! Gasp! Witchcraft!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">So, people started bashing the VP because of his archaic and obviously anti-female ways.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I say, "Way to go!" Boundaries. Principles. Intact marriage of over 30 years.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">She was quoted as referring to "The Billy Graham Rule" which was started by the evangelist to avoid the appearance of impropriety. I would call it "The Biblical Guideline for a Healthy Christian Marriage Rule." Okay, it's not as catchy, but it is descriptive.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">To me, it just goes back to I Thessalonians 5:22 which states, "Abstain from all <i>appearance</i> of evil" (italics mine). The Greek work can mean appearance (duh) or form. In other words, keep from just looking like something could be wrong and actually doing the wrong.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It's called boundaries.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">My husband and I realized it could be an issue early in our marriage. There was a newly saved guy at church that needed help getting places. Since I was at home with a vehicle and hubby was in charge of the bus ministry, it was determined that I could take him. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Nothing happened during our drive besides errands and maybe a little discipleship. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">But there still was talk like, "Oh, I saw you driving around with so-and-so." "So, what was going on with you and so-and-so?"</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Was it any one's business? No. Was it wrong for them to assume a possible bad intent? Yes.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">On the other hand, if I would have allowed someone else to drive him or ask someone else to join us, it wouldn't have become fodder for sour minds.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">And that was 28 years ago!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Today, it's considered barbaric to set boundaries or to be concerned about reputation. It's crazy! People are dogging on the Pences presuming that such boundaries means he's sexist or lustful or some other cockamamie label....that's right! Cockamamie I tell you!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I really appreciated finding <a href="http://nypost.com/2017/04/03/the-truth-about-mike-pence-and-woman-staffers/amp/" target="_blank">this article by Mary Vought who worked for Mike Pence</a>. I suggest you read it. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Here is my favorite part, </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://nyp.st/2nPoA9R" target="_blank"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">"</span></span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: proxima-nova-reg, sans-serif;">My work product determined my success — not private dinners with the congressman. When looking back on my time in the office of the man who is now vice president, I don’t consider it to be a period of missed opportunities.</span></a></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: proxima-nova-reg, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://nyp.st/2nPoA9R" target="_blank"><br /></a></span></span>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: proxima-nova-reg, sans-serif; margin-bottom: 24px;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://nyp.st/2nPoA9R" target="_blank">The fact of the matter is, it’s not as though then-Congressman Pence was out having private dinners with male staffers and I was excluded. He wasn’t having private dinners much at all.</a></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: proxima-nova-reg, sans-serif; margin-bottom: 24px;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://nyp.st/2nPoA9R" target="_blank">He had children at home, so as often as possible, after voting and his daily duties, he’d race home to share a meal with the people who mattered to him most: his family. Frankly, he modeled for male and female staffers alike that it was possible to serve in a public role with excellence while being wholly dedicated to his family."</a></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 24px;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Obviously, we live in world where:</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 24px;">

It's been <strike>several</strike> many years since we attended one, so we really needed it as we are heading into teens this year and high school in a year and a half.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">That was all good and well, but God actually wanted us there for parenting. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Isn't it interesting that when we are looking for something to change a person or situation, it's often us God wants to change?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN2In276BYA1lTutdWbRr7tDhI0qPjKX1Tm1kQtjKPmG6ew8SI-DYYC8O944HoC4atsdO-dM4pxmQb0pxGbW179yzFQd4gsEgibBev2N7-7txMeQ-WyBAFxXjR79b5brhHIuEr0ZyaiDA/s1600/old-dog-learned-new-tricks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN2In276BYA1lTutdWbRr7tDhI0qPjKX1Tm1kQtjKPmG6ew8SI-DYYC8O944HoC4atsdO-dM4pxmQb0pxGbW179yzFQd4gsEgibBev2N7-7txMeQ-WyBAFxXjR79b5brhHIuEr0ZyaiDA/s320/old-dog-learned-new-tricks.jpg" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">So, it was an encouraging, informative, convicting and entertaining weekend. Yes, things can be convicting and entertaining at the same time...at least in my book.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">So, hubby and I came back having repented and realizing we needed to make some changes. We were good.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">...but then something happens and you've got to put the new pedal to the old metal. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It's all great when it's fresh and theoretical, but then when your child actually needs some issues majorly addressed, it's actual work!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It would be easy to fall into routine, but we haven't (so far, thankfully). We decided to think and pray before we address it instead of just coming down on her which is what we often did. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I'm also choosing not to deal with it in fear of her response or what others will think, but instead, in faith that God has promised a great plan for mija and this is just one of the lessons/bumps that will lead her into her future purpose (and her current purpose for that matter!).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">So pray for us as we consider how to handle this new issue now that we have to be responsible for the new lessons God has taught us!</span>Betsy Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03425274490034775170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-494118661816136592.post-91943416853524613652017-03-29T12:22:00.000-05:002017-03-29T12:22:58.956-05:00Saved 84% yesterday<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Went to our "big city" about 35 minutes away to do some couponing yesterday. I purchased $100 worth of stuff for only $16! Not bad and worth the gas.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHNpvL-0YpCW_g_8g2M9zAorvGl8tNa3OIp3Wbv0G4aqkKyjmaRSbs8a3-DPnBRsaDz_P_PLexg8MBK3reId0IYLAyPAPR1HVsxjZGSbNWhE6Ok8CwyycDZxKifbeW_3MW1fcYwS_DmWU/s1600/groceries.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHNpvL-0YpCW_g_8g2M9zAorvGl8tNa3OIp3Wbv0G4aqkKyjmaRSbs8a3-DPnBRsaDz_P_PLexg8MBK3reId0IYLAyPAPR1HVsxjZGSbNWhE6Ok8CwyycDZxKifbeW_3MW1fcYwS_DmWU/s640/groceries.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I did Krogers, CVS, and Walgreen stops, matched coupons with sales, and applied some online rebates through <a href="https://ibotta.com/r/glxzw" target="_blank">Ibotta</a> and such, but what was really interesting was that there were actually two mail-in rebates. I haven't seen those in years.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">One is for the <a href="http://rapid-rebates.com/RightGuardTMF#/" target="_blank">Right Guard Xtreme Precision Dry Spray.</a> It's only available through purchases at CVS, Walgreens, or Rite Aid. You have to purchase by the March 31 and postmark by April 15.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The second mail in Rebate was for a <a href="http://schwarzkopftrymefree.com/doc/TryMeFree_PDF_Gliss_v3.pdf" target="_blank">Swartzkopf Gliss Product</a>. It's not store specific and needs to be postmarked by January 15, 2018.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Remember to do any online rebates before these because you need to mail in the receipts with the mail-in rebates.</span>Betsy Pricehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03425274490034775170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-494118661816136592.post-41590519023182227302017-03-28T08:00:00.000-05:002017-03-28T08:00:10.855-05:00Homeschool Freebies<br />

I had many encouraging moments, aha moments, entertaining moments, convicting moments and one major...<br />
<br />
DUH moment.<br />
<br />
You see, I had dropped hubby off at the convention center for a men's breakfast while I went back to the motel to close up shop.<br />
<br />
I was carrying out my big bag with the car keys in one hand and the motel room key card in the other. I desperately wanted to remember that key card because I didn't want to be locked out of the room.<br />
<br />
Everything went well for the motel room card key. I was able to get back into the room easily to finish the last looks which is usually hubby's job. You know the job of looking through the room to make sure nothing was left behind (and all the free soaps and coffee were packed).<br />
<br />
I did well...<br />
until I went for the car keys...<br />
<br />
I ransacked the room and purse looking for the car keys--the only set of car keys I might add.<br />
<br />
They were no where...<br />
except probably the trunk.<br />
<br />
I went into full blown "Bapti-costal" prayer mode. "LORD, pleeeeeese let me find the keys. LORD, hubby doesn't have his phone. I don't want to miss the last day of the conference. LORD, please don't make me spend money for a locksmith. PLEEEEEEEESE, Father!"<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik1J2QwKBmM-8VmxybxyhXa6-YxjKQ5p3lYgU_JtqoXm1UZIk9hBfk-3IcufZel6qUvvTtrx9dcI8FK4hh8Ufedn4stPlPcekI4UkaYOVYlVHSSNfkNy67I_LcpsCkyyfoo7bFE5U5_fM/s1600/keys.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik1J2QwKBmM-8VmxybxyhXa6-YxjKQ5p3lYgU_JtqoXm1UZIk9hBfk-3IcufZel6qUvvTtrx9dcI8FK4hh8Ufedn4stPlPcekI4UkaYOVYlVHSSNfkNy67I_LcpsCkyyfoo7bFE5U5_fM/s400/keys.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Me with the pesky keys</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
It came to me; at least one part of the backseat folds down to allow access to the trunk.<br />
<br />
Literal praise of God at this moment.<br />
More grumbling than praising occurred as this 200+ pound woman in a maxi skirt attempts to remove all the trash that had been pushed to the back of the trunk (which was now the front of the trunk from my perspective), remove my husband's bag which he lovingly had loaded prior to the breakfast and attempt to reach my bag which was in the front of the trunk which was now the back of the trunk.<br />
<br />
About 10 minutes into this adventure, I realized the rest of the backseat also folded down which made the last few minutes of this process much easier yet undoubtedly still a praise the Lord worthy moment.<br />
<br />
I was so excited! Definite praise going on as I jumped up and down, raised my hands in the air and <br />
posted on the TTD app to share this praise worthy moment.<br />
<br />
My husband finished the breakfast and I had to share this with him as well. After all, God deserved praise for what He did.<br />
<br />
Instead of falling on his knees in adoration for what God did for his wife, my husband looked at me calmly and said...<br />
<br />
"Why didn't you just push the trunk button under the dashboard?"<br />
<br />
I sat dumbfounded with egg obviously dripping from my face. My forehead was red from my hand slapping my forehead saying, "DUH!"<br />
<br />
The trunk button?<br />
<br />
Throughout the rest of the day, I pondered this massive DUH moment and I came up with a few thoughts.<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Sometimes, your spouse really can see through the emotions and turmoil to see an obvious (and often much easier in a skirt) answer.</li>
<li>Sometimes, there are really easy actions that can fix a really serious problem. Serious does not always equal hard.</li>
<li>Praise God anyway. Even though the more challenging answer came to my mind, I have no doubt that God helped me through the situation. Maybe even more so because He had to help me through my DUH; even though He was probably sitting on His thrown with a little smile thinking....</li>
</ul>
<div>
....just push the button, precious. </div>

Oh, Jesse tree...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">You hear a lot about doing a Jesse tree this time of year. </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">You know what you don't hear a lot about? </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Jesse.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">We know he's the son of Obed which makes him the grandson of Boaz and Ruth (yes, that Ruth). We know he's the father of David and grandfather of Solomon. He's surrounded by big names of the Bible.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">But who is he?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">We don't know.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">These have been my ponderings during our Advent reading. Here are some of my thoughts and findings.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">He wasn't used to the limelight. After all, it was a big surprise to those living in Bethlehem when Samuel came to town. Samuel had to assure them, "Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord" (I Samuel 16:5). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">We do know from this passage, however, that he seemed to be a man of God trying to raise godly children because when Samuel spoke, Jesse and his crew were consecrated and ready to sacrifice.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">He didn't even seem to be a big fish in a small pond because David even questioned his ability to marry the king's daughter because after all, "what...is my father's family in Israel..." (I Samuel 18:18). I come from common stock. I'm not a somebody or celebrity (yet). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">He didn't know one of his sons would become king and obviously wasn't riding on his grandparents' laurels. </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">He was just a normal guy. Raising his family of hunky sons. Minding his business. Serving the Lord. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">He was like me in many ways. While I didn't have a godly heritage like he did, I'm just a normal wife and mother. Rearing a daughter and tending a husband. Taking care of my home and serving the Lord.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I don't know what God has for my daughter just like Jesse didn't know about his son's future. He was just quietly faithful. Just like I should strive to be. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Who is Jesse?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">One of us.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Saturday morning I spent a short time with a friend at church. Mija played with her three daughters while she and I attended to our task at hand and chatted with other moms and dads present.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Little did she know that by the time she got home she would be a widow. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The how and whys are not my story to tell. In fact, we are only assuming the why until the medical examiner says for sure.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">We only know that it was sudden and unexpected.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Another friend who went up to the hospital to be with her said she was amazed at my friend's grace and composure in the situation. The grace and faith in which she explained to her three daughters (10, 8, and 5) that their father was now with the Lord he loved was amazing to say the least.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">But her walk of faith only started there. Th witness of her faith continued as she and her daughters walked, weeping, into church this morning. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Yes, they came to church because she said that is where they were supposed to be. It was heart-wrenching to here the crying in the back of the church during singing, but a blessing to here the quiet while they were ministered to through the preaching of the Word and see the love and hugs of her church family. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">They were one of the many unique homeschool families. My friend works outside the home while her husband stayed home to school the girls. He was a great father and always willing to help in our homeschool group. It was a blessing to see another homeschool dad there in addition to my hubby.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">My friend owns her own business which is closely affiliated to a major motor manufacturer here in town. If she does not work, she does not get paid and there is no one else to do it. She thinks she is only going to able to take a week off.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">She has already expressed her concern with the girls' schooling. I and several others have assured her that her girls are going to continue to be homeschooled. It would not be the first time I loaded up mija and our schoolwork and take them to another's house that needed help schooling during a family crisis. We do not know what it is going to look like right now, but we have a week to figure it out.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">As much as I grieve and pray for my friend, what her husband is experiencing. I cannot imagine what how great the presence of Jesus is that it can wipe away any regret he might have about not being with his "four gorgeous women." </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Please pray for my friends.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
