Cuneiform in Clay

Here's my latest attempt at teaching history in a concrete way. We studied ancient Egyptian and Sumerian writing so of course, we had to do some!

Do you know how hard it is to find clay that hardens? Maybe if I would have wen to Hobby Lobby or Michaels it would have been easier, but live and learn! I wanted clay because that was what the ancient Sumerians used.

Obviously, Micki learned that clay is harder to work with than play dough. We looked at a book with cuneiform writing and tried to copy some of the letters. Oh, and the principal showed up for the activity which makes it that much more special!
