An Exciting Word

This is from the daily devotional on March 22.  I think modesty is so misunderstood and anything that encourages it should be, well, encouraged!

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: What comes to mind when I say, “Modesty?”

“It's kind of a boring connotation.”

“Fully covered—almost not wanting to have any style to their dress.”

Nancy: Modesty can sound like an idea that’s out of date, but actually, it’s wonderful.

Modesty brings you peace. You can rest knowing you’re being obedient to God.

Modesty gives you power. You’ll be free from constantly changing fads.

Modesty provides protection. You’ll be less likely to get the wrong kind of attention from the wrong kind of men.

Modesty promotes purity. You’ll be more likely to get the right kind of attention from the right kind of guys.

Modesty leads to praise. Others will value you for inward qualities, more than unreliable physical characteristics.

Remember what God’s Word says: “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”

With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
